EN - Edward Muybridge was a visionary. He decided to try something new. A man riding a horse and managing to capture the movement of its trot. In 1878, Muybridge built an adapted track for his first test. 24 cameras were lined up, connected by a wire that ran the length of the track. When the horse passed a camera, an image was instantly captured. This was the first time that quick movement could be seen in detail. It was difficult for the human eye to follow this movement.

This innovation in photography laid the foundations for the first archives of cinema. All the animation we know today owes its legacy to Edward Muybridge and this little film called "The Horse in Motion". A few seconds that changed the history of cinema.

PT - Edward Muybridge era um visionário e decidiu experimentar algo novo. Um homem a montar um cavalo e conseguir captar o movimento do seu trote. Em 1878, Muybridge construiu uma pista adaptada ao propósito. 24 câmaras estavam alinhadas, conectadas por um fio que percorria toda a pista. Quando passava por uma câmara imediatamente uma imagem era capturada. Esta foi a primeira vez que o movimento rápido podia ser visto com mais atenção. Com o olho humano temos dificuldade em acompanhar esse movimento.

Esta inovação na fotografia fundou os primeiros registos do cinema. Todas as animações que conhecêssemos hoje em dia, devem o seu legado a Edward Muybridge e a este pequeno filme intitulado "The Horse in Motion". Poucos segundos que mudaram a história do cinema.
