THE JEFFRIES-SHARKEY FIGHT (1899)
Discover our project - @sportinworldcinema
🇬🇧 This film, made on 3 November 1899 by the Americans William A. Brady and J.H. White, shows a boxing match. The fight between James J. Jeffries and Tom Sharkey lasted 25 rounds in front of a huge crowd. This film is considered to be one of the first video recordings of a sporting event. Unfortunately, the film has not survived to this day. It was about two hours of footage and only 4 minutes of film remain. But it is enough to allow us to follow the perceptiveness of the fighters. It was at this time that sportsmen began to realise the importance of the audiovisual world, which was becoming increasingly important on the market.Célia Paula
